The Arts Dean’s Fund for Excellence supports faculty and student research opportunities that would otherwise not be possible. In past years, over $65,000 was distributed to more than 40 individual projects.
The Arts Dean’s Fund for Excellence provides aid for students to participate in professional conferences and helps pay various fees, such as for image reproduction rights. It can also cover costs associated with exhibitions or incurred in the acceptance of internships.
The fund also awards noncompetitive grants in support of divisional priorities. The Arts Dean’s Fund for Excellence ensures that Shakespeare to Go, our touring education and outreach program that brings Shakespeare plays to regional elementary through high schools, continues to enrich public education through arts performances staged by UC Santa Cruz undergraduates.
In addition, the fund has supported both visiting artists and a postdoctoral fellow. The artists residency has brought innovative practitioners to campus to work with graduate and undergraduate students during stays lasting anywhere from a weekend to a 10-week quarter. These artists taught, lectured, listened, watched, critiqued, performed, and influenced hundreds of students across campus.
The Arts Dean’s Fund for Excellence is entirely donor funded. The Dean’s Office is extremely grateful for the generous support of its contributors. A gift to the Arts Dean’s Fund for Excellence will play a significant role in the success of faculty members and students alike.
