With the theme of “International and Global Perspectives,” College Nine acts as a campus hub of interaction between domestic and international students at UC Santa Cruz. The commitment to fostering cultural competency and global citizenship among our students recognizes the deep interconnections between all peoples and strives for a path of coexistence rather than conflict. College Nine provides young people with tangible and thoughtful ways to engage, learn from, and appreciate international and global perspectives.
Funds for College Nine will be directed toward giving students a greater understanding of the value of multiple cultural perspectives through resident assistant and orientation leader events and programs, and intellectual events like lectures and debates hosted by the CoCurricular Programs Office. You support will also facilitate expression of multiple perspectives with programs such as the Multilingual Curriculum Series, art shows, language tables, and the creation of an international story corps.
College Nine is working to create hands-on opportunities for students to collaborate with others of different backgrounds and perspectives. Potential programs that need your support include the International Living Center, the Global Action course, and outdoor experiences for environmental literacy of international students.
