Film Production Coalition

Hello There! We are the Film Production Coalition.

Every quarter, we offer UCSC students the opportunity to get hands-on experience through the creation of a variety of short films. This is important because here at UCSC the film department doesn't offer most students the opportunity to touch, let alone learn how to use equipment, until their third year. In addition to this, we also foster a filmmaking community for students who are passionate about making, watching, and talking about films.

In our organization, students pick whichever genre they wish to pursue and, in conjunction with a team, make a film that's shown at the FPC Film Festival. Our quarterly film festival is also an opportunity for people outside of the organization to show off their independent work as we showcase films from ALL students. Something we are very proud of is our ability to keep the festival accessible to the general public through free admission. In Fall of 2019, we had over two-hundred attendees!

A huge part of what we offer is an accessible work environment for all students- and this means paying for all the costs of production so students don’t have to. If you donate, the money will go towards props, costumes, set pieces, and food on set. It will also go towards waving the fees to enter the films into student festivals!

We’d greatly appreciate donations this year for Giving Day as we transition back into in-person filmmaking. Making short films is not an easy endeavour, but with your help, we can continue to keep the art of filmmaking alive and funded!
