Mock Trial at UCSC

Mock Trial at UC Santa Cruz is a student-run, intercollegiate debate organization that offers students an inclusive and comfortable environment to improve their public speaking skills in the context of the law. We do this by competing against other schools around the state and country in a simulated trial experience.


We want to raise funds so we can make sure that our team members- young minds who regularly engage in debate and courtroom simulations- are in a comfortable environment and are able to conveniently practice and perform in tournaments, as well as succeed and win.

During our 2019-20 season, we competed at Cal Poly SLO, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, CSU Fresno, and UC Berkeley again. At these tournaments, we've competed against schools from across the country, such as Stanford, UT Dallas, and UC San Diego, and we've done exceptionally well. In our pre-COVID tournaments, we won numerous individual awards, received the Spirit Award, and placed sixth out of 34 teams at the UC Santa Barbara tournament. Although our competitions this year may look a little different than they have in the previous years, our team will continue honing our skills for the courtroom.
