STEAM Postdoc Association Symposium

Support UCSC postdocs by helping us fund the annual UCSC STEAM Postdoc Association (USPA) Symposium!

The UCSC STEAM Postdoc Association (USPA) strives to enrich the training experience at UCSC by providing additional resources for postdocs throughout all stages of career development. Each year the USPA organizes career development workshops, community building events, and an annual symposium. Our activities create a sense of community for postdocs, and contribute to heightening their career trajectories.

Postdoctoral Scholars (also known as “postdocs”) are early career scientists with PhDs who perform research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. In many ways the postdoc position is analogous to a medical residency or fellowship. The USPA is a volunteer-driven postdoc association dedicated to fostering a stronger postdoc community and providing career training resources for postdocs and graduate students. Our annual symposium is the highlight of our programming events at UCSC.

The UCSC STEAM Postdoc Symposium is dedicated to share research from our early career scientists at UCSC and is open to attend by anyone who is interested, including faculty, staff, graduate students, etc.. The USPA Postdoc Symposium highlights the active and vibrant research community here at UC Santa Cruz and provides opportunities vital for student career development.

Your donation will help immensely to further increase the strengths and reputation of the Santa Cruz STEAM research community by enabling the USPA to continue offering our annual symposium. Also, donations will help us to bring Nobel Laureates, CEOs and distinguished scientific leaders to this event and provide a vibrant and engaging venue for Santa Cruz researchers to present and receive feedback on their work. The annual symposium is the highlight of our event series, and was organized using digital platforms in during the pandemic. We hope to organize the symposium in person again in 2022, at the Cowell Ranch Hay Barn on the UCSC campus.

Please help us continue to support the career development of UCSC postdocs and our vibrant research community through donating to the USPA’s Annual Postdoc Symposium. Contributions will be acknowledged on the next symposium’s program. Thank you for your support!
