NanoCAPE early detection of cancer

Match Opportunity: Lou and Leslie Grate are generously matching all donations, dollar for dollar, up to $200.

NanoCAPE (Nanopore Cancer Analysis via Plasma ExRNA) is an undergraduate-led research project focused on the development of a non-invasive liquid biopsy screen for early detection of cancer using the nanopore sequencing platform known as the MinION (developed at UC Santa Cruz).

Specifically, we plan to develop diagnostic approaches that rely on the analysis of RNA biomarker molecules present in human blood or plasma to detect the disease, providing a less invasive way to screen patients for cancer.

Your donations to our Giving Day project will help provide us with the funds and resources for undergraduates in the Daniel Kim Lab to successfully grow into the next generation of researchers, as well as make a meaningful impact on cancer research.
