SlugMUN allows students to explore global events, understand new perspectives, and develop leadership abilities through simulating the United Nations style of debate. Members acquire skills that can be used outside of the debate room, such as public speaking, teamwork, and diplomacy. Conferences allow students to develop these skills further, while also enabling members to network and meet other students from around the world who are passionate about Model UN and international issues.
Funds for SlugMUN will be directed towards paying fees necessary to continue offering the “UN Contemporary Issues” class and providing need-based funding for financially struggling team members to attend conferences in addition to hosting our own conferences. Financial stability will allow our student leaders to continue creating an innovative class, and training an award winning team to compete against other universities.
We would like to offer this opportunity to as many students as possible, regardless of their financial status. The SlugMUN conference has earned the reputation of being fun, but also educational!
