Younger Lagoon Reserve/Binoculars

Match Opportunity: Generous donors are matching all donations, dollar for dollar, up to $500.


Younger Lagoon Reserve provides unparalleled opportunities for students to learn about the environment, implement field projects, obtain hands-on experience, and become actively involved in research and stewardship projects.

Younger Lagoon Reserve is a birding hotspot in Santa Cruz County and offers opportunities for both experienced and novice birders to observe more than 200 species. Good binoculars are essential for observing bird markings and behavior.  They are also expensive.  We are fundraising to purchase binoculars for groups and visitors who may not have access to this fundamental birding tool.

By donating on Giving Day you will:
- Put a pair of binoculars in the hands of Younger Lagoon Reserve users, young and old;
- Support ongoing natural history programming for K-12 students;
- Support the education of hundreds of undergraduates students and interns as they learn about avian monitoring methods and Younger Lagoon Reserve’s unique and rich ecology.

With our $2,000 goal, we will be able to purchase 20 pairs of binoculars, continue our educational programs, and inspire the next generation of bird enthusiasts!
