The Undergraduate Research in Science & Technology (URST) program supports excellence in undergraduate research for students from any major at UC Santa Cruz. 


MAKE AN IMPACT!

Laboratory and field research is an opportunity typically reserved for graduate students at other universities. But at UC Santa Cruz, the Undergraduate Research in Science & Technology (URST) Awards make these career building opportunities available to undergraduates. 


Your gift provides monetary awards to undergraduates from any major on campus working on research projects in science and technology. The awards cover costs associated with conducting research plus living expenses so students can focus on their studies and research without having to seek additional employment.


Through the URST awards, students gain

  • Real-world lab experience and outside-the-classroom learning
  • Increased critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity
  • Connections with faculty and network influencers that motivate them to stay in their majors and graduate
  • A leg up for tech jobs and graduate school opportunities

This past year, 15 students had URST awards, and we would like to make this opportunity available to more.
