New Wheelchair Accessible Van for EEB

Help us retire Trusty Rusty! The Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department (EEB) is seeking to replace our oldest passenger van with a new, more fuel efficient van that is wheelchair accessible. By replacing a fuel-inefficient, high-maintenance van with a newer van, we will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, pay less for fuel, and save money on repairs and maintenance. Not only will this project benefit the environment, we are also making field trips accessible to everyone regardless of physical ability, thus making field course excursions equitable. Students who use wheelchairs, knee-scooters, or other walking aids have historically been excluded from field-related activities including field trips and field research. By having a wheelchair accessible van, we are ensuring a more equitable EEB curriculum which allows persons of all abilities access to field courses.
