The Open Government Academy is a leadership and professional development series run by students, for students. The series is a fellowship model with virtual and hands-on elements. Fellows listen to guest speakers from the nonprofit and public sectors with careers in government, advocacy, and leadership. Trained in parliamentary procedure, Brown Act, Bagley-Keene, and other imperative meeting laws, fellows frequent the halls of government to advocate and gather public support on issues related to the accessibility of democracy. Government and the law can be intimidating. This fellowship will prove that, with the right tools, any student may uncover their dormant potential to lead.
