Latinx Initiative for Future Teachers (LIFT)
Join the Education Department in supporting our Latinx Initiative for Future Teachers!

We are excited to share that this year's Giving Day campaign will focus on our Latinx Initiative for Future Teachers (LIFT). 

Please help us meet our Giving Day goal of $5,000 in donations - enough to increase
5 future teachers fellowship's to $3,000 each.

We are pleased to announce that the first $1,500 in Giving Day donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar thanks to generous contributions by Anonymous Education Department Professors.  That means your donations will be doubled!

As a reminder, LIFT provides an affinity space for MA/Credential students, along with financial support, a mentor who is a local teacher of color, as well as enrichment events. Many of you attended the well-received and well-attended LIFT event last year with Rochelle Gutiérrez. Please check out our LIFT website.

Our second cohort of LIFT scholars has just begun the Masters/Credential program, and they are doing fabulously! For these first two years of the program, Giving Day donations were essential to our ability to accept all LIFT applicants and to provide each with a $2,000 scholarship. Looking forward to next year, and given the increasing cost of living due to rising inflation, we hope your generous LIFT donations will help us achieve our goal to raise $5,000!   Which will allow us to increase the scholarship amount to $3,000 for each LIFT Scholar. 

These efforts are vital to our equity, social justice, and anti-racism mission to serve all students of California -  as you are well aware, there is solid research demonstrating a host of positive outcomes for students of color who have had at least one teacher of color.
