In the Physical & Biological Sciences Division at UC Santa Cruz, we believe that diversity of personal experiences, culture, and perspectives drives the innovation and creativity needed to meet the most pressing challenges at the cutting-edge of scientific research and education. To this end, we strive to promote social justice and equity across all intersections of identities.

On Giving Day 2022, you have an opportunity to create a high impact! All gifts to the Dean's Fund will specifically support diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility programs and services for students and faculty in the Physical and Biological Sciences Division.


Who will my Giving Day gift benefit?

Gifts to the Dean’s Fund on Giving Day will directly benefit both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty members, in the Physical & Biological Sciences Division at UC Santa Cruz.


What programs will my Giving Day gift support?

Raised funds will be allocated to new and existing programs that serve students from underrepresented and underserved backgrounds within the sciences. Funds will go towards programs like the Grad Student Peer Mentoring Coalition, which links graduate students across departments to form peer mentorship relationships (an integral part in the success of graduate students by promoting belongingness at our institution). Other programs, like the Work Study Research Initiative, allow students who are experiencing financial hardship to obtain valuable research experience. The division is highly invested in continuing to develop additional programs that support underserved minority groups, and your gift will allow these seeds to grow into something special.
