Community Aid and Resources (CARe) is a nonprofit organization that dedicates its time to helping those experiencing homelessness in our community. We do this by hosting several clinics throughout the year, where we take direct action by offering free resources such as haircuts, foot washes, hygiene supplies, sandwiches, and the like to whoever is in need. As a student-run club, we are responsible for all parts of the process, from raising funds, to buying supplies and providing volunteers to help during clinic days.
There has been a huge increase in interest for community activism at UC Santa Cruz recently, with many students wanting to take action against the housing crisis and issues around homelessness here. Given this influx of volunteers, we are in need of new T-shirts to build solidarity and so we can wear our organization name proudly—both during our clinics and in our everyday lives. Having this Giving Day money to use toward new T-shirts and other promotional resources on campus, such as flyers and a large banner, will help bring awareness to our social justice efforts throughout the campus community. In addition, our clinics are held throughout the year, and our on-campus fundraising has to match this year-round schedule. Having a portable awning would allow us more flexibility in the time of year and location where we sell our cookies, succulents, or whatever creative ideas our student body has come up with for each fundraiser.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our page. It's important now, more than ever, to build community and support solidarity, and we hope you can support us in our efforts to do this today. You can find out more about our organization by going to our website: www.caresc.org.
