With the help of UC Santa Cruz Retiree Maxine Lane and her family, the UCSC Retirees Association created a scholarship in memory of Maxine’s late husband, Bruce Lane, that provides funding for re-entry veteran students. The scholarship helps to bridge the gap between their GI Bill and the cost of education. The scholarship is called the UCSC Retirees Association Bruce Lane Memorial Scholarship Endowment. Bruce was part of the founding administration of UC Santa Cruz and a military veteran who pursued his educational dreams after serving in WW II. The GI Bill allowed Bruce to earn his first degree in mechanical engineering. Bruce became passionate about giving scholarships to military veteran students in need. When you give on Giving Day, Maxine Lane and her family will match your gift with $1.50 for every $1.00 given, up to $30,000! We need your help to keep this life-changing scholarship going. Make a gift today to take advantage of the amazing opportunity to support the UCSC Retirees Association Bruce Lane Memorial Scholarship Endowment.
