This year the Institute of the Arts and Sciences (IAS) of the UCSC Arts Division presents two major exhibitions about climate change and environmental crisis. To highlight issues of ocean health, more than 400 student and community participants are crocheting an incredible UC Santa Cruz Satellite Reef for the Seymour Marine Discovery Center. The exhibit opens this May as part of the world-famous Crochet Coral Reef project. Next fall at the UCSC Arboretum, we’ll present Future Garden by renowned ecological artists Newton and Helen Harrison—an exhibition that includes reconditioning three geodesic domes to study the impact of climate change on coastal California plants. The IAS presents groundbreaking exhibitions and dynamic public events, and works with faculty to offer innovative new learning experiences for students. Please support these amazing projects!
