Two seniors majoring in environmental studies, Nico Galindo (development engineer) and Trevor Johnson (construction enhancement officer), are constructing a rainwater harvesting system as a senior exit project. This project will act as a pilot system to demonstrate the benefits of using rainwater for non-potable demands. Located at UC Santa Cruz's beautiful Arboretum, this system will serve decentralized water to multiple portions of the lower gardens, reducing the university's demand on the municipal water supply while promoting sustainable practices/development.
