12th Annual KASA Banquet
Check out some clips from last year's cabinet and outdoor banquet!

The Korean American Student Association (KASA) cultural banquet is the amalgamation of the club’s mission to educate the community about Korean culture and celebrate the Korean American heritage. The event will include showcasing Korean-related performances ranging from student-led groups to culturally significant performers from outside of UCSC, as well as providing traditional Korean food and venues dressed in a specific theme, in order to spread our love for and bring awareness to the unique culture of Korea.

UCSC KASA has successfully hosted this event for 10 consecutive years. All of our past banquets have surpassed our goals in terms of publicity, guest turnouts, and event content. We’ve attracted many students from every college on campus, as well as many who are not affiliated with our university, to come and enjoy the performances and food we offer.

This banquet will benefit the campus community not only through the aforementioned education and celebration, but also by serving as a promotion of the club’s resource as a safe space for Korean American students and anyone interested in this culture. In addition, the banquet will also give students firsthand exposure to many aspects of Korean and Korean American culture that they otherwise might not experience.

With the advent of the Hallyu/Korean Wave, Korean culture is constantly being fetishized. As an ethnically Korean organization that educates and raises awareness of Korean American issues, we open our doors to those who have felt unaccepted for showing interest in aspects of the Korean culture. Because we openly display our interests and have pride in what we do, we hope that others will feel empowered and welcomed in this space and not feel ashamed for having interests that give them joy.

KASA remains the only club that holds large-scale banquets focused specifically on Korean culture. Our event stands out among the others by bringing up-and-coming Korean American artists as headliners, catering professionally made Korean food, and promoting Korean culture.
