UCSC Emergency Medical Response

UCSC EMS

UCSC EMS is a student-run organization whose leaders and members are EMTs, first-aid responders, and those passionate about emergency medicine and campus safety. Unlike other student-run organizations, ours plays a critical role in the welfare and safety of students, faculty, and staff. Our organization utilizes the skill sets of UCSC students with varying degrees of emergency medical training to serve the campus community. Through fulfilling such a vital need, we have established ourselves to be the first line of defense in an emergency or crisis for a wide range of campus events, including concerts, athletic events, festivals, and any gatherings where first aid may be needed.

Our members who are first-aid responders are trained to treat minor injuries but can also provide potentially lifesaving care. They are trained in:

- CPR

- Rescue breathing

- AED use

- Treating cuts, scrapes, burns

- Controlling bleeding

- Splinting

- Recognizing life-threatening conditions

- Administering NARCAN

- Many other useful and possibly lifesaving skills

How can you help support us?

Effectively performing these skills and providing high-quality care requires tools and equipment. Unfortunately, because we have not been able to replace our equipment, most of it is old and/or broken. Any funds that are donated will be immediately used to purchase equipment such as:

- Bandages

- Wound dressings

- Gloves

- Antiseptic wipes

- Blood pressure cuffs

- AED

- Antibiotic ointment

- Personal protective equipment

Any help will directly contribute to supporting both our organization and our campus community!
