Support Native Students at UCSC!

The Student Alliance of Native American & Indigenous Peoples (SANAI) is a student-run organization at UC Santa Cruz that provides academic and moral support for Native American students on campus and works to increase awareness of both the university and the greater Santa Cruz community on issues affecting the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island, now known as North America.

We aim to...

Promote Native student wellness
Provide an inclusive, safe, and brave space for Indigenous students and allies to promote the visibility and empowerment of Indigenous communities
Remind the university that their institution is built on the land of Indigenous people

Giving Day donations will be put towards our Cultural Celebration Series where we host events centered around Indigenous cultural practices such as beading, storytelling, and powwow dancing. This academic year, SANAI is asking for your help in funding our Powwow Dance Workshops. Donations will be used for dance instructors to travel to the campus with the intention of teaching both Native and non-Native students about the beauty, history, and cultural significance of dancing for Indigenous communities. Part of the donations will also be used to aid Native students in paying for their regalia.

Donations will be used for other events such as screenings of films created by Natives and panels on the topics of LANDBACK, MMIP, and other issues concerning Indigenous peoples, all of which contribute to growing community relationships and increasing Native visibility on campus.
