Educational Opportunity Programs: Breaking Barriers Fund
The Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP) Breaking Barriers Fund supports first-generation college students from low-income families, with diverse social and personal identities and from historically marginalized backgrounds. and ensures that they successfully complete their undergraduate education.
Your contribution will be allocated to the mission of relieving financial strains of first-generation, low-income, nontraditional, re-entry students, etc., at UCSC. With EOP serving more than 6,000 students, we have made it a Giving Day goal to raise $10,000 that will keep supporting an array of services, including orientation, academic, and personal advising, peer advising/coaching, textbook support, wellness, and preparation for graduate and professional schools. In addition, EOP’s goal is to support students with emergency costs such as unexpected medical bills, food insecurity, housing, educational expenses, legal fees, family emergencies, professional development opportunities, and loss of income due to immigration status. All of these are financial barriers, and we aim not only to help reduce the financial distress that impacts students’ academics, but also ensure access to and achievement in higher education.
With your support, we can continue providing much-needed resources to our students. If you have any questions, plese visit our Giving Day project website and learn more about the career-developing programs we continue to offer with your support.
Your donations, big or small, will help relieve financial strains and barriers to the students we serve at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and provide services to retain and support students. Thank you!
