Philosophical Slug Society

The Philosophical Slugs Society is an undergraduate philosophy club where students gather weekly to engage in thought-provoking discussions on the philosophies of a wide array of topics, including consciousness, education, and environmental issues. We foster a relaxed and community-oriented environment that encourages open-minded discourse and the development of conversational rhetoric skills. Moreover, the Philosophical Slugs Society is dedicated to demonstrating the relevance of philosophy beyond the academic setting and creating life-long intellectual and thoughtful friendships.

Members of our society have achieved remarkable milestones, including pursuing master's programs in philosophy across the nation and participating in prestigious philosophical conferences such as MAP at the University of Michigan and Ethics Bowl at both state and local levels.

This year, we are embarking on a fundraising campaign to co-sponsor the Center for Public Philosophy's "Night of Ideas" event, an unconventional gathering that unites speakers, artists, academics, and performers from around the country and even abroad to engage with the public in a free-spirited atmosphere. At this event, you'll find the Philosophical Slugs' "Ask a Philosopher" booth, where attendees can pose questions and explore philosophical concepts.

In addition, the funds raised will support undergraduate Philosophical Slugs students in attending conferences and academic seminars. This financial assistance not only benefits individual students but also brightens our community as a whole. We are especially committed to aiding students from underrepresented backgrounds and those facing financial constraints.

Philosophy is a discipline for all, and we appreciate your support.
