Blum Global Poverty Awareness Week Food and Housing Information Pop-up Project as part of the Blum Center’s Student Action Council for the Eradication of Poverty and Inequality (SACEPI), students across the UC system are launching initiatives to increase awareness of poverty. Our goal is to deepen the understanding of campus, regional, national, and global poverty. At UCSC, students are organizing information pop-ups. Food and housing insecurity are significant concerns for many UCSC students, and these pop-ups will offer opportunities for students to share their own experiences and communicate how our campus can foster students’ economic security. The 12 half-day pop-ups will take place at prime student locations. Information about UCSC and community resources will be made available. We envision the pop-ups to be a welcoming, informal, and anonymous way for students to engage with these weighty issues. Your support on Giving Day will ensure that students have this essential information to manage their most basic needs! Budget includes: 3 students working 3 hours @ $15/hr. x 12 pop-ups = $1,620 Posters, Banners, Pens, Tape = $180 Promotional items (buttons, stickers, etc.) = $200 TOTAL: $2,000
