The Banana Slugs Men’s Tennis Team is comprised of 12 highly-motivated student-athletes who meet impeccable academic standards. Our students have rigorous majors ranging from engineering, computer science, economics, math, psychology, and more. Combining high-performance expectations in the classroom as well as the tennis court creates study and practice schedules that are exceptionally demanding.
An ongoing challenge for our program is that we are the only D3 Men's Tennis program in Northern California. This means that we must travel often to comply with our NCAA match requirements. The stress of travel can contribute to lack of sleep, slower recovery, and reduced energy. In short, it makes it hard for our players to be at their best.
Funds raised on Giving Day will go toward future team travel expenses. With your help, we can reduce some of this stress by improving our travel experience. This could include reducing travel time by flying instead of driving and also booking hotel rooms with better accommodations to ensure our athletes can get a good night's rest. By alleviating some of our travel expenses we will also be able to contribute more towards team building and professional development experiences.
Our team has a strong foundation of seven national championships, the last one being in ’09. Help us add to this list!
