Sesnon Art Gallery

Match Opportunity: Your donation will matched dollar for dollar up to a total of $1,000 throughout the day. Matching funds were generously provided by an anonymous donor.

The Sesnon Gallery’s project, Student Art Encounters, needs your help to raise $10,000 in funds. #sesnongiving

Your contributions will support paid student internships, free artmaking workshops, and student-curated exhibitions in the Sesnon Underground.

Hands-on gallery management experience

Student interns assist with professional art exhibitions by world-class contemporary artists, including works by Kara Walker, Andy Warhol, Ai Wei Wei, and Carlos Motta. Interns participate in all aspects of exhibition installation, receiving direct experience with curatorial practices and art collections management. Interns put this valuable museum experience to work to organize and curate exhibits. Your support will provide funding to student artists to install two-week exhibitions in the Sesnon Underground, our student gallery.

Amplifying diverse student voices through creative expression

Your contribution will support our continued collaborative programming with organizations that serve our diverse student community. We partner with campus organizations to amplify student voices and experiences through creative expression, such as the recent In Honor of Our Sisters, a virtual exhibition of photographs by Indigenous UC Santa Cruz students from the American Indian Resource Center (AIRC) as part of the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG).

An educational studio as well as a gallery

The Sesnon Gallery has a strong history of presenting free artmaking workshops, such as zine-making and screenprinting, to all UCSC students. Your support allows us to continue offering workshops free of charge to students by covering materials costs and providing artist stipends to workshop leaders.

Programming like this is so important because it provides people with access to learning valuable and creative skills who might not otherwise have an opportunity.

Free art workshops inspire me to try new things!

Can our students count on your support? Give to the Sesnon Gallery’s project, “Student Art Encounters,” on November 3!
