The Center for Agroecology is asking for funds to improve our outdoor education and classroom spaces for increased access for students, interns, and apprentices to engage in learning opportunities with Center staff.
Formerly the packing shed (located at the Farm and Garden), our newly envisioned outdoor classroom space will bring the technology of the classroom even closer to the field, creating a dynamic teaching space where students can easily jump from PowerPoints to field experiences and back again. This transformation will include a shade covering for weather protection and PowerPoint visibility, and new seating to increase opportunities to gather and host conversations.
To strengthen learning opportunities at the Chadwick Garden site, funding will be used to upgrade seating areas for instruction and improve the food prep area so students can stay nourished while learning at the Chadwick. If budget allows, we also aim to finish a remodel to our Library Center, including the installation of new flooring to complement the new furniture and lighting that have been added. This space has been redesigned in 2021–22 to make it more accessible to student visitors and to better set up the space for both individual and group work and learning.
Our Spring Give request for $10,000 will go a long way to cover these costs and strengthen the Center's teaching abilities.
