Join us in supporting the next generation of genomic scientists!
We are raising funds for the undergraduate students in the Research Mentoring Internship program (RMI). The RMI provides financial support, research training, and professional development opportunities for first-generation, underrepresented and underserved students in STEM majors (STEM = science, technology, engineering, and math). The RMI is the flagship program of the Genomics Institute Office of Diversity, and we are proud to have supported over 200 students in their educational journeys since we began in 2003. RMI scholars are represented in virtually all STEM fields, with a special focus on genetics and genomics. RMI scholars gain hands-on experience and develop research skills in areas such as pediatric cancer, stem cell research, biodiversity preservation, inheritable diseases, and global health. RMI students may train in wet labs, in the field, or in purely computational settings. We are fostering a diverse and inclusive community of scholars who will become the next generation of genomic scientists and change agents! Our goal is to inspire, train, and empower future scientists who aim not only to make meaningful contributions to their respective fields, but also to give back through mentorship, outreach, and by showing up as inspirational role models.
Your donation will provide critical support for our work, and will go directly to support RMI scholarships and educational or research training activities. RMI provides scholarships, mentoring, research training, and career planning for first-generation, underrepresented, and underserved students in STEM majors. As future scientists who come from underrepresented communities, RMI scholars contribute to discovery and diversity in STEM, and will become mentors and role models for future generations of learners.
Together we can create a scientific community that welcomes diversity in all its forms, including race, gender, culture, and socio-economics. Help us change the face of science!
Thank you for your support!
