Independent Gamedev Coalition
The Independent Gamedev Coalition is a community focused on assisting students in creating the games, building the skills, and gaining the knowledge they need to build out their portfolios and start working toward finding their place in the games industry.
Through our quarter-long game development projects, we facilitate the building of teams to create the non-class projects that are so integral to showing drive and building a portfolio, and we introduce structure and support to those projects through weekly team meetings and officer assistance. Oftentimes, small projects like these can drag on for months to years, and may never be finished or made portfolio ready. Through our facilitation and support, we attempt to ensure that these projects do not succumb to these kinds of fates, so they make it out of the other end of the quarter finished and ready to show!
Beyond this officer assistance, we hope to build out programs that can boost the careers of our members with proper funding. We want to send members to career conventions like GDC, help them financially with getting their games onto an upscale platform like Steam, show their games to larger audiences through paid tabling events and advertising, and try to assist them in any other way they need in order to find success.
