Inspire the next great scientist!
Robert A. Ludwig joined the UCSC faculty in 1979 as a professor of Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology. Robert was a gifted and dedicated teacher whose biochemistry and genetics lectures inspired a generation of budding science students. The Robert A. Ludwig Memorial Scholarship Fund provides our young scientists with crucial experiences by furnishing funds to attend special summer courses and conferences, as well as small stipends to complete promising research.
A graduate education in the biological sciences includes coursework and laboratory research. But when asked what shaped them, many great scientists speak of other experiences that had a profound influence on their development during graduate school. They speak of conferences at which they met leaders in their chosen fields. They express gratitude for workshops and courses that taught them new techniques or introduced them to novel experimental models and systems. Even when these experiences are short in duration, they can make a huge difference in the life of a budding scientist.
You can make such wonderful, life-changing experiences available to UC Santa Cruz’s promising young biologists. Please give today so our young scientists will be able to become the great scientists of tomorrow.
