Autoslug is a Baskin-affiliated organization focusing on the implementation of AI, machine learning, and computer vision in practical applications. Our goal is to create opportunities for students to learn how to use these tools in an applicable real-world environment; to ultimately expand beyond the theoretical side of these advanced concepts; and to explore their intersection with humans, data, and other forms of hardware.
Our first project is an innovative computer vision model that translates real-time American Sign Language (ASL) into human-readable English, fostering communication between the deaf and hearing communities. The second project features an autonomous modular machine with a custom swerve drivetrain, allowing it to navigate through crowded environments and diverse terrains while adapting its components for optimal performance in different scenarios.
Our third project is focused on working in tandem with HARE labs to create a custom control system for their robot dog so that we may completely automate it. These projects represent cutting-edge advancements in communication technology and autonomous robotics, addressing real-world challenges with creativity and ingenuity.
