Equestrian Club

UC Santa Cruz Equestrian is a growing sports club that utilizes a catch-riding style and competes through the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. We added a recreational branch to our team last year, which continues to provide opportunities to ride and brings horse lovers at UCSC together!

Many are initially hesitant to join the club, concerned that they have little experience with horses or are new to the show environment. We strive to make the equestrian sport accessible to everyone, regardless of riding or financial background. Our team offers opportunities for every ability, ranging from those wanting to learn to ride to individuals wanting to take their skills to the next level. Our club is open to anyone, as we offer it all with our competitive and recreational branches of the team. We are ecstatic for the expansion of our team over the past year and desire to see this continual growth. Our overall goal is to assist each individual in achieving personal goals, while also recognizing that this is a team sport built upon our strong community and endless support from our fellow teammates, trainers, and horses.

In addition, we try our best to create an more affordable and accessible way for UCSC students to have exposure to horses. Equestrian sports are undeniably expensive and we believe everyone should have this opportunity. Showing horses, buying riding attire, and taking lessons can be financially taxing and challenging, so we are working towards having the ability to subsidize expenses for our competitive and recreational riders alike.
