The Center for Innovation for Entrepreneurial Development (CIED) program, GetVirtual, connects UCSC students with local Santa Cruz businesses to help them with their online presence. Many Santa Cruz businesses need help navigating the online e-commerce world. Students gain valuable experience in project management. Small businesses increase their digital footprint for free. It's a win-win. Since 2020, we have launched over 220 successful projects with the help of hundreds of students.
The GetVirtual program trains students to project manage the development of websites and social media campaigns. After successful completion of the training, students are paid to provide these services through a partnership with the Santa Cruz Small Business Development Center. Since last year, we have had over 30 interns go through the program.
Your donation to the Spring Give will help expand this program so that more students can get real-world, one-to-one client experience while giving back to our community.
GetVirtual partners with SCEE (Student Creativity Empowerment and Entrepreneurship); together they create events such as Ideathon and the annual SlugTank and speaker events with luminaries such as Steve Blank, Toby Corey (CEO of CruzFoam), Rick Vargas (Former Apple Creative Director) and Bertille Toledano (Presidente BETC). Thank you for making your gift to GetVirtual today!
